STLL STUDIOS Joins Independent Feature 'ODIE' as Production Partner

STLL founder Lester Platt will be producer and director of photography on 'ODIE'

STLL STUDIOS has officially joined the upcoming independent feature 'ODIE', led by writer-director Nick Barr. The Austin-based production company will support the film’s production through its team, resources, and creative infrastructure, with STLL founder Lester Platt attached as both producer and director of photography.
'ODIE' is a grounded, character-driven story that follows a single day in the life of a man experiencing homelessness in Austin, Texas, offering an unfiltered look at resilience, survival, and the human condition within an often-overlooked community. The project has been steadily building momentum, with a committed team forming around Barr’s vision and a clear emphasis on authenticity in both storytelling and execution.
At the centre of the film is Barr’s approach as a filmmaker, one rooted in realism, restraint, and emotional honesty. His direction prioritises performance and lived-in environments, allowing the story to unfold with a documentary-like intimacy while maintaining a cinematic structure.
STLL STUDIOS’ involvement signals a key step forward in the project’s development. Known for its cinematic approach to commercial and narrative work, the company brings a hybrid model of production, combining creative direction, technical execution, and streamlined systems that are designed to produce successful projects in tight restraints.
“Projects like 'ODIE' are why we built STLL the way we did,” said Lester. “There’s a responsibility that comes with telling stories rooted in real-world experiences. Our goal is to support Nick’s vision while bringing a level of cinematic discipline and production value that allows the film to connect on a larger scale.”
As both producer and director of photography, Lester will play a dual role in shaping the film, overseeing production strategy while crafting a visual language that aligns with the story’s grounded tone. The cinematography is expected to lean into naturalistic lighting, handheld intimacy, and an observational style that keeps the audience close to the character’s perspective.
The collaboration reflects a broader shift within independent filmmaking, where production companies like STLL are stepping in as creative partners, offering not just crew support but scalable infrastructure that creates opportunity for emerging films.
With pre-production underway, 'ODIE' continues to assemble a team aligned with its mission: to tell a deeply human story with honesty, care, and cinematic intent.
